MAME 117 and Street Fighter 3 online

Well a little bird let me know that there is a new version of MAME (MAME32 Plus! - to be exact).
This version of MAME not only emulates the CPS3 board (yes, the same board that Street Fighter III runs on) fairly (there are a few odd graphical glitches here and there, but nothing disctracting) well, but also has Kaillera embedded to allow for online play.
Playing with MAME 117 via Kaillera is surprisingly smooth and unless you are playing people from across the pond, lag is no issue.
The same informative little bird, also pointed me to a file on Megauploads which contains all the files needed to play SF 3 on MAME, online.
Install instructions are fairly simple.
(The file is compressed with 7zip which is a free compression program available here. )
- Extract the contents of “MAME117u+SFIII.7z” to a local folder on your hard drive.
- Install MAME
- extract the contents of the “2_070706123759.zip” file into your ROM folder.
- Place the “kailleraclient.dll” file in your Root MAME directory. (same directory as the MAME executable)
- Place the “sfiii3.zip” into your ROM folder. (leave it zipped)
- Play the Japanese NoCD version ;]
I think that about covers everything… if you have any further questions drop me a line.
Oh, if someone could enlighten me on how to record the input whilst playing online I would be most grateful!
SOLVED!
To record your input online, over MAME and Kaillera, simply hold ’shift’ + ‘control’ before you start the game. Keep those two buttons held until the game has finished loading, until you see the first game screen.
The input file will be put into your ‘MAME/inp folder’ which you can then play back.
I downloaded the file but cannot figure out how to open MAME. The file type is not recognized by WIndows. Do I need a serperate program to open it?
